Resume Writing

Resume writing education

Possible Joblink provides a unique service in the job search industry. Not only can we create professional resumes, cover letters and answers to selection criteria, we can teach you how to create these documents yourself. We will work with you to identify your most relevant experiences, skills, and best achievements to date.

A well-written resume is an integral first step to finding a job in Australian job market. Your resume should demonstrate your qualifications, experiences, capabilities, and interests. Our experienced consultants are available to help you craft the best resume, providing you with the resume best suited for you and your industry. These professionals are also available to help update and maintain an already existing resume.

Basic step-by-step resume development

– Our consultants start by finding out what industry you are looking to work in, we will then organise a face-to-face with you to start the writing process.

– During the face-to-face, your resume can either be reviewed as it is, making suggestions for changes, or we will start working with you to create a brand-new resume.

– With the advice of your designated consultant, you will be asked to choose a specific resume style (chronological, functional or combination).

– Create section headings to reflect your experiences based on your skills, work experience, community service, extracurricular activities, and education.

– Under each heading, create accomplishment statements to explain your skills and experiences. Once this has been worked out, relevant keywords and language will be used to write your professional resume.

– Once the resume has been written, your consultant will begin a detailed review process, working with other consultants to polish your resume into the best version possible.

– You will receive a draft copy for you to go over and make recommendations so that the resume fits you.

– Finally, when you are happy with the resume, we will send you an editable copy for use in your job hunt.

With the above knowledge and experience, you will be able to write your own professional, eye-catching resumes as well as comfortably update and manage your resumes in the future.

Cover Letters

Cover letters are a necessity for many job applications. They help you highlight abilities, knowledge, and skills directly related to the job you are applying for. Cover letters help you stand out from the crowd. A well-written cover letter can be hard to create and the skills most important to each application can be unclear. Possible Joblink’s consultants are available to help. We will work with you, one-on-one, to create a professional cover letter for your industry that can be used as a template for further applications.

Cover letter basics

– Write your letter like a formal business letter

– Conduct some research before doing any writing

– Decode the job ad, to target your letter accordingly

– Highlight your skills and how you can help the organization continue to be successful

– Review for clarity and check for spelling and grammar mistakes

Selection Criteria

Some positions will require candidates to answer several questions or provide examples of skills and experiences in more detail than a standard cover letter or resume usually supplies. This is known as Selection Criteria. Selection Criteria questions are often difficult and time-consuming to fill out, but it is important that each question is answered fully and correctly as they are often used to filter out potential candidates. Possible Joblink’s consultants are available to work with you in addressing selection criteria. Thanks to our multi-industry experience, our consultants can provide answers to the questions that appeal to your chosen industry, working with you one-on-one to provide the best examples of your work history to fulfill each question.

Basics of addressing selection criteria

– Read each criterion carefully and address each question separately

– Use specific examples

– Focus on key achievements

– Review for clarity and check for spelling and grammar mistakes
